Foodpanda Panda Plates: Sinulog Edition

January in Cebu is all about Sinulog. Cebu comes alive with Sinulog energy—filled with movement, music, and celebration. Between parades, preparations, and everyday routines, food remains the connection that brings people together. With that, Foodpanda helping locals and visitors enjoy familiar flavors as the festivities draw near.

This Sinulog season, savoring Cebu’s best flavors doesn’t have to involve long queues or traffic jams. Explore and enjoy Cebu’s top homegrown restaurants, all available through the foodpanda app.

I recently had the pleasure of joining a mini food crawl hosted by foodpanda, celebrating 5 of Cebu’s beloved hometown favorites for the Sinulog season.

1. No Sinulog celebration feels complete without lechon—Cebu’s most beloved culinary icon. Cebu’s Tasty Lechon never disappoints, drawing crowds with its crispy skin and flavorful meat that reflect true Cebuano pride and tradition. From its classic lechon to the crowd-favorite spicy variant, it proves that lechon isn’t just for festivals, but for everyday cravings too. The restaurant also offers value meals served with puso, Cebu’s iconic hanging rice wrapped in woven coconut leaves, making each meal compact, flavorful, and perfect for enjoying on the go.

2. Beyond the savory dishes, one of my favorite spots is Abaca Baking Company, run by The Abaca Group, where every visit feels like a treat. From artisanal breads and signature pastries to all-day brunch plates and specialty coffee, there’s always something to enjoy. I especially love their Campfire Latte—a warm, comforting mix of espresso, chocolate syrup, milk, and marshmallows that’s perfect for cozying up and savoring the moment.

3.Beyond these Cebuano favorites, I also love grabbing bold flavors from local spots like Jafar’s. Famous for their Middle Eastern–inspired wraps, rice bowls, burritos, and fresh salads, Jafar’s has grown from a small kiosk in 2019 to a go-to spot for food lovers—especially busy during Sinulog!

4. One of Cebu’s everyday go-tos is Alberto’s Pizza, which started as a small store near Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. Loved for its affordable prices and reliable quality, Alberto’s has become a favorite for tasty, budget-friendly comfort food—perfect for busy days when convenience counts.

5. Last stop of the day was at Good Habits, a café founded in 2022 on the simple idea that enjoying coffee is always a good habit. With six branches now, it’s a favorite for Cebu’s coffee lovers. As owner Rick Dylan Ostrea says, “foodpanda is a platform we can rely on—it’s always available, and it helps us be more accessible”
