With a little less than 5 weeks (or less) before our little girl arrives it’s officially crunch time. We are finishing up so many last minute things before she’s here and everyday seems crazier and crazier BUT My husband Dennis’ birthday was coming up and I wanted to make it special and just between the two of us since this will be his last birthday with just him and I. His favourite cuisine to eat is Japanese food, he could probably eat it daily. I knew right away where I wanted to take him for his birthday, his favourite Japanese Restaurant in Cebu, Ume!
Seriously if you never been to Ume Restaurant you’re definitely missing out, not only is it authentic Japanese Cuisine, the portions are huge, the service is impeccable and well the food is just amazing! Everything we’ve eaten here is just so good!
Here’s what we ordered:
Spicy Tuna Roll- Dennis’ always orders this roll, I mean who doesn’t love spicy tuna. Unfortunately I couldn’t have any this time around because you cant eat raw seafood while pregnant but I’ve had it before and it’s always good. The roll consist of 8 big pieces.
Creamy Salmon Croquette- This is a new item from Ume, their menu is already big but I’m always happy to try new items. These croquettes were perfectly fried and the salmon was indeed creamy and delicious. This dish consist of 5 big croquettes with potato salad and small salad, it makes a great appetizer for the table.
Tempura Udon- I was craving noodles and also shrimp tempura so I ordered tempura udon which has both, the broth is nice and light and the noodles are fresh. The tempura is perfectly battered and fried. I always request my tempura to be put on the side because I like to keep it crunchy. The dish is so big you can definitely share it.
Tokusen Bai Roll- While at Ume you have to try one of their signature rolls, I promise you’ll love them! This time we tried their Tokusen roll which is deep fried crab, cucumber, mango with shrimp sauce and crab stick crunch. Soooo good! And once again this is a big roll.
Tuna Tataki- After all the food we consumed Dennis was still hungry haha he wanted to cleanse his palate with something fresh and light so he ordered the Tuna Tataki, which is a seared Tuna on a bed of fresh vegetables and ice, topped with onion and sauce. Honestly I almost ate some because it looked that good! Dennis happily ate it all, I’ll definitely try this dish after I give birth because it really looked so fresh and good.
We had a great dinner at Ume and once again we over ate and over ordered as usual haha but we love it here, as I’m writing this Dennis’ and I are already making plans on when we will eat here next.
